Upcoming Live Classes

December 16th this class will go live virtually at 12 pm Pacific Time (1 PM Mountain Time).

Three (3) CE hours in Suicide Prevention for $9.99.

In psychology, we look at the whole person: biology, psychology, and social (bio/psycho/social).

This class covers:

  1. A review of contemporary LGBTQ+ terminology (how to avoid unintended microaggressions)
  2. Gender from a social perspective (masculinity v femininity)
  3. Suicide prevention research perspective (intersectionality)
  4. Human biology from 3-weeks en utero (in uterus) – through adolescence, including testosterone, ambiguous genitalia, sexual transitioning, and the primary intersex conditions.

By the end of this class, you should have a basic comprehension of the five layers of biological sex that determine gender (DNA, chromosomes, hormones, internal genitalia, and external genitalia) and what happens when anyone of these things does not develop. You will also understand that gender is not something an individual wakes up and one day decides to change; as early as toddlerhood, individuals know their gender.

You will gain a deeper comprehension, appreciation, and humility for the complexities of each subgroup underneath the LGBTQ+ umbrella.

Mental Health Resources (suicide prevention, books, links, websites, state and federal laws, and posters for your clinics) will be provided by each group (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual, Queer, and Other).
